I was inspired by the incredible views that overlooked Florence. I stood in place all day studying the light and making various sketches before the actual painting began. The exact moment before sun set, the vase was beautifully silhouetted against Florence's light - I just witnessed a great show of light and shapes. I challenged myself to go beyond the rectangle and designed the frame you see here. It is finished in an oil base paint, and accented with 22k.
